IR FUTURES Explores Fashion Diplomacy and Thai Soft Power on the Global Stage

On June 25, 2026, the International Relations Program under the School of Political Science and Public Administration at Walailak University hosted an academic event titled “IR FUTURES: Diplomacy, Global Politics, and Skills for the Next-Generation Diplomat.” The session took place at the Srithammarat Conference Room, Architecture and Design Building (AD), Walailak University, aimed at promoting learning in diplomacy and global politics while developing key skills for students pursuing careers in international affairs.
The highlight of the event featured a special lecture by Dr. Sibadee Nopprasert on “Beauty of the Nation: Fashion and Thai Diplomacy Through the Queen’s Royal Attire on the Global Stage.” The talk offered key insights into the pivotal role of fashion, royal textiles, and Thai culture as diplomatic instruments, illustrating how Thailand’s image is effectively communicated through Soft Power on the international stage.

Throughout the session, participants explored new dimensions of international relations by connecting diplomacy, culture, national identity, and global politics. The lecture broadened students’ perspectives, demonstrating that diplomacy extends beyond state-to-state relations to encompass symbolic communication, cultural exchange, and national branding worldwide.

The IR FUTURES event reflects the program’s commitment to empowering students with well-rounded knowledge, a deep understanding of contemporary issues, and the readiness to become next-generation foreign affairs professionals with a global vision.
