On February 26, 2026, the Political Science Program in Politics and Government, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Witthaya Aphorn, Head of the Academic Services Working Group, along with program faculty members—Assistant Professor Dr. Surat Komphot, Dr. Uchen Chiangsen, Dr. Ayna Thaipratan, Mr. Kan Namueangrak, Mr. Yamaruddin Songsiri, and Mr. Piyanun Jina—participated in the orientation session for academic service projects addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event took place at the Hua Taphan Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Walailak University Medical Center Building.
The orientation was organized by the Center for Academic Services, Walailak University, and was graciously opened by Associate Professor Dr. Warit Jawjit, Vice President for Administration and Sustainable Development. Over 90 faculty members and researchers driving SDG-related projects attended the event. This initiative aligns with the university’s vision of being “A Pillar of the Locality, Excellence at the Global Level,” aiming to elevate academic services as a key mechanism for driving sustainable community and social development, as well as enhancing the capacity of faculty and units to design projects that deliver concrete, positive impacts.
For the fiscal year 2026, two projects from the Politics and Government Program have been selected for initial implementation under the academic services for society and SDG-driving framework. The operational area is located in Si Khit Subdistrict, Sichon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, with full collaboration from all faculty members across the program. The program hopes that this initiative will play a crucial role in building long-term cooperation with local administrative organizations to support area development, while also paving the way for future knowledge creation and research.
