Field Trip on “Exploring Religion, Beliefs, and Multiculturalism in Nakhon Si Thammarat” at Thumpang Archaeological Site

On December 2, 2024, the School of Political Science and Public Administration, Walailak University, organized an academic field trip under the theme “Exploring Religion, Beliefs, and Multiculturalism in Nakhon Si Thammarat” at the Thumpang Archaeological Site, located within the university.

The field trip was conducted as part of the course POS64-326 Religion and Politics. It aimed to enhance students’ academic learning through direct engagement with historical and cultural heritage sites. The Thumpang Archaeological Site, which preserves traces of Hindu beliefs blended with local traditions, served as a meaningful context for students to explore the intersections of religion, politics, and multicultural practices.

The activity provided students with opportunities to broaden their knowledge beyond the classroom, develop critical perspectives on religion and society, and appreciate the richness of Nakhon Si Thammarat’s diverse cultural landscape.

The School of Political Science and Public Administration extends its sincere appreciation to Ms. Wilawan Wichaidit, who honored the program by serving as a guest lecturer. Her in-depth knowledge and insightful explanations about the historical and cultural significance of the Thumpang Archaeological Site greatly enriched the students’ learning experience.
